Today, 22nd March, in the World Water Day, Mr. Ignacio Muñoz de Juan, CEO of Molecor, shares with us his impressions about the current and future global situation of the most  valuable and menaced resource in the world: Water.

Aware of the existing problems and big consequences that water can have over future generations, Ignacio Muñoz wants to participate in this day to convey a message of awareness and cooperation that encourages and helps to preserve and distribute this resource more equitably worldwide.

1. Do you reckon the lack of water as one of the main problems that the future generations will have to face to?

Yes. Without any doubt, there are two factors for which the lack of water is becoming a relevant problem for the next generations.

To start with, we encounter that the climate change phenomenon is leading to significant changes in water cycles in several countries, as well as weather conditions and temperatures.

On the other hand, we are going through an important social change. A great proportion of the population of certain countries is no longer belonging to the disadvantaged class, starting to belong to the media one. As a consequence of this social change, they start requiring more and new services.

The greatest need of this resource and its more diversified use, together with its scarcity and its inefficient distribution worldwide, explain the fact that water could become the base for lots of conflicts in the future.

2. Currently, are being taken the necessary measures to preserve this resource?

We can say yes, but in a reactive way. That is to say, first the problem appears, and then we start looking for different possible solutions. However, the truth is that there is enough knowledge in general, since we all know that we are in a process of change, in continuous evolution, so we should be capable of getting ahead of these problems. For instance, areas that are currently in conditions of extreme drought are already an indicator that the adjacent ones are going to suffer from this evil in the future.

In conclusion, I think that we still act in a reactive way and we must start doing in a proactive manner.

3. How does Molecor contribute to the preservation of this resource?

Molecor offers a system completely efficient for the conveyance of water under pressure. We must bear in mind that the problems related to water do not always arise from the same point. In many cases the problem is related to the scarcity of this resource, problem against which the company has a limited capacity to act since it consists of a natural phenomenon. Notwithstanding, other times the problem is due to the fact that water is not equitably distributed. Therefore, we can find areas in which this resource is abundant and others in which, for the contrary, there is an extreme shortage of it. Is in this last aspect in which Molecor tries to cooperate, and contributes as much as possible to this cause.

One of the ways by which we try to afford our bits is offering our PVC-O solutions, with which we have been capable of transporting water under pressure to the most isolated corners of the planet in a very secure way, avoiding leakages, and therefore, saving this valuable resource. The access to water is a human right and we all must work together so that this right turns into a reality for everybody.

4. Do you have in mind new initiatives with which the company is going to manage even better the water resources?

Yes. Molecor has several lines of R&D on which is working and which main goal is to offer everybody a much easier, efficient and economic access to water, a resource absolutely required by everyone.

TOM® pipes are the main element by which Molecor contributes to the preservation of this resource. They consist of PVC-O pipes that are thought and designed with the aim of preventing any loss of water, either by leakages, damages in the installed pipes…, remaining the quality of the channeled water and taking the water into isolated and less urbanized areas worldwide.

Moreover, with TOM® pipes we contribute to the environment, one of our main pillars, since they require a lower quantity of raw materials and energy for its production. Furthermore, its big inner section and its smooth inner wall allow transporting a higher quantity of water, requiring less energy in the plumbing.  Last but not least, its lightness and easy handling reduce considerably the cost of the installation.

In Molecor we work and will continue doing so, so that access to water is, less and less, a privilege of a few.

5. Do you consider the future of the company threatened by the water problems?

Rather, the complete opposite. It is extremely necessary to change the current water situation. Thus, and despite the numerous barriers and multiple obstacles that we are going to find, in Molecor we will invest a lot of effort and all our knowledge in R&D to alleviate them. We are aware that we are part of the solution to these problems and that moves and drives us to search, find and explore new paths.

6. Any optimist message?

Yes, of course, and I firmly believe in it. If we have been capable of reaching the moon, we are going to be able of taking water to every corner of the Earth and in Molecor we work, await and are confident that we are going to contribute to attain this goal.
