Molecor, the first company that has achieved the UNE-EN 17176 certification for its PVC pipes and fittings

Molecor, a company specialized in the development of Molecular Orientation Technology, has developed the most complete range of Oriented PVC solutions for the market.

The quality of the TOM® PVC-O pipes and ecoFITTOM® PVC-O fittings is now recognized with the AENOR’s N mark, which has granted the corresponding product certificates.

TOM® PVC-O pipes have been certified according to the standard UNE-EN 17176 “Plastics piping systems for water supply and for buried and above ground drainage, sewerage and irrigation under pressure - Oriented unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-O) - Part 1, 2 and 5”, and the ecoFITTOM® PVC-O fittings have been certified according to the standard UNE-CEN/TS 17176-3:2019 “Plastics piping systems for water supply and for buried and above ground drainage, sewerage and irrigation under pressure - Oriented unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-O) - Part 3: Fittings”.

Molecor is pleased to be the first company to achieve product certification according to the new European regulations in force.

The European Standard EN-17176 has been developed by the CEN/TC 155 “Plastics piping systems and ducting systems” European Standardization Committee, by the WG8 working group in which Molecor has participated as a technical expert representative of the Spanish Standardization Association (UNE).

Since its foundation, the company has actively participated in different technical and standardization forums, in standard development that facilitates cooperation between different countries and the development of new markets, and subsequently obtain the product certification in accordance with existing local regulations.

These new certifications comply with the European standard EN 17176, and therefore cover the regulatory requirements of all European countries in which the European standards EN apply.

With the publication of the new Spanish standard UNE-EN 17176, on 26 December 2019, based on the European standard EN 17176 for PVC-O, the reference standard until then, the UNE-ISO 16422 ceases to be in force in Spain. The adoption of the new European legislation and, therefore, the adaptation to the requirements of the same, must be complied with.

It is important to emphasize that although the Spanish version of the International ISO Standard will cease to be applicable in Spain with the publication of the adoption of the European standard EN17176, the ISO 16422 Standard will continue to be in effect.

Molecor will maintain the certification of its TOM® pipes for this international standard, since lots of worldwide pipe certifications are based on the ISO Standard.

Quality is a key element in the activity of Molecor, with its dynamics of continuous improvement, the company has implemented technical advances in manufacturing and marketing in the five continents, with new functionalities that optimize their behavior or improvements in the production process, improving the customer experience, adapting to different market demands and with innovations that increase the range of products, reaching applications previously reserved for other solutions.

The Molecular Orientation process provides PVC-O pipes and fittings with exceptional mechanical and hydraulic characteristics compared to solutions manufactured in other materials existing in the market.

Applied to water pressure lines, it is attained a solution of great resistance, both mechanical and chemical, therefore with a very high useful life. This series of features provide solutions oriented to optimize the available water resources and to reduce energy costs in water infrastructures.

Molecor PVC-O pipes and fittings are an excellent alternative in water distribution networks, thanks to their operational efficiency and low maintenance costs, due to its high physical-mechanical and chemical properties.

Molecor implements eco-design in the manufacture of Oriented PVC (PVC-O) pipes and fittings in order to obtain pipes with an extremely high useful life. The use of natural resources, both raw materials and energy, is reduced during the manufacturing process, thanks to the development of new, energy-efficient production technology.

The Molecor pipelines are certified in more than 10 countries, and in the case of the ecoFITTOM fittings,  they have been recognized by the European Union regarding the use of innovative materials and technologies for their manufacture, receiving several awards for their quality and efficiency. They have also been recognized for the Outstanding Technical Novelty they imply in the market.

Molecor, company specialized in the development of Molecular Orientation Technology, has the most complete range of this type of conductions under pressure with the TOM® pipes, available from DN90 mm to 800 mm in pressures of 12.5, 16, 20 and 25 bar and with the ecoFITTOM® PVC-O fittings, manufactured from DN110 mm to DN400 mm and in nominal pressure of 16 bar.
