Water scarcity affects more than 40% of the world's population, and this percentage is expected to increase significantly in the coming decades due to the increase of the proper world’s population, and due to the effect of climate change on the planet. 3 out of 10 people lack access to safe drinking water services and 4 billion people lack access to basic sanitation services, such as toilets or latrines. Every day, around 1000 children die from illnesses associated with poor hygiene. More than 80% of waters end up in rivers or seas without any treatment, causing their contamination.
